My name is Kim Tavendale and I love Broomfield! I have lived here since 2008, and Broomfield is our home. It's where we bought a house and got to know our neighbours. It's where we enjoy going for bike rides and swimming at The Bay. It's where our children go to school and play with their friends. It's where my business is based. It's where our friends are. And it's where my heart is!
As a mother, wife, volunteer, and small business owner, I believe in being of service to my community, and that is why I am running for Broomfield City Council in Ward 1. Caring and compassionate, with a healthy dose of common sense, I believe I bring the ability to listen to all sides and find the common ground to best serve Broomfield.
Doing what is right and best for Broomfield is important to me and to our community.
Originally from New Zealand, my husband, Nigel, and I arrived at Miami International Airport on Thanksgiving Day 1999 with a suitcase each and the promise of a job. We spent 9 years living in south Florida, where our son, Alastair, was born, and Nigel's career brought us to Colorado in 2008, and or daughter, Devyn was born here the next year. We have worked hard to build a wonderful life here in Colorado in a great city, and I am honoured to be given the chance to give back to my community.
In addition to being an award-winning wedding officiant, I am a partner in a florist business here in Broomfield, and also serve on the board of Unabuseable, a local non-profit that supports survivors of domestic violence and abuse. I have run for State House 33 in 2016 and 2018, served on the state board of a political party as Campaigns Director, and served on the board of our HOA in Florida. I have worked in the insurance industry, and before becoming a stay at home mother I was operations manager for a benefit company. I love to read, bake and cook, go on bike rides with my family, travel, and spend time with friends.
I can't win this race without your help! Distributing flyers, yard signs, reaching voters through word-of-mouth, holding meet-and-greets with your friends and neighbours, volunteering with the campaign, and donating are all ways of helping us achieve our goals together. Please email email@example.com to get involved!
Your donation is an opportunity to be part of something bigger. Your contributions are so appreciated and help us to reach the voters of Ward 1. We need to purchase postcards and yard signs, as well as other campaign expenses. Please give today!
